We are a Managing General Agent (MGA) for various life insurance companies. We proudly offer their products through independent insurance advisors.

We have developed systems, support, and training that allow our independent life insurance advisors to be knowledgeable, professional, proficient and successful in their chosen career.

We partner with a significant number of life insurance companies to ensure that our advisors have the ideal solution to their clients’ changing needs.

Peter Freedman – Founder and President


As the founder and president of the firm, Peter is responsible for developing new business and expanding and educating its advisors. With more than 20 years experience, he continues to focus on consulting with his existing and prospective advisors.

Peter began his insurance career in South Africa working for Liberty Life Association of Africa for five years. In this short period, Peter received many prestigious awards. In 1993 Peter immigrated to Canada and worked as an independent broker from 1993 to 2000. He built his client base through diligent effort, a strong work ethic and prompt efficient customer service. In 2000, with the support of his clients, Peter established Peter Freedman Life Insurance Brokers. During his quick growth, he has been able to attract some of the industries’ best professionals.

Peter Established Achievex Financial Services in 2007 through the acquisition of Cowper Financial, a well established MGA.

Peter is a member of numerous industry associations including: The Independent Life Insurance Brokers of Canada and the Canadian Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. Additionally, Peter is a licensed Level Two life Insurance broker and devotes significant time to life insurance academics and training

Aubrey Cimring – Chief Financial Officer

Aubrey Qualified as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa in 1995. After a short stint as a stock exchange equity analyst he joined Choice Holdings, a stock exchange listed food production company, as their Chief Financial Officer. He then joined Discovery Holdings, a stock exchange listed Life and Health Insurer, as their Head of Finance and member of the Executive Committee. Dung his period Discovery grew to become the largest Health Insurer and the fastest growing Life insurer in South Africa.

Aubrey worked at Discovery Holdings for 6 years before joining Massmart Holdings, the largest stock exchange listed general merchandise retailer in South Africa. While at Massmart Aubrey transferred from Finance to general management and spent his last years of the 6 at Massmart as the Managing Director of Builders Warehouse, the largest Home Improvement retailer in South Africa. Aubrey was also a member of the Massmart Group Executive Committee. During this period of 15 years Aubrey also continuously served as the Chairman of a number of very large Group Pension and Insurance Plans and Health Insurance plans.

Aubrey joined Achievex Financial Services in 2008 as its Chief Financial Officer with the specific responsibility of building a sustainable and efficient platform that supports the growth of its independent advisors. Aubrey assists Peter in training and consulting with our independent advisors.

Neil Benjamin – Managing Director of Achievex Group Benefit Solutions

Following a successful business career in South Africa, having owned and operated a number of companies Neil immigrated to Canada in 2003 to head the sales and marketing division for one of the World’s largest jewellery manufacturers and suppliers to the North American wholesale market.
His interest and success in marketing and sales led him to the Life and Health Insurance Industry, passing the LLQP exams in early 2006.

Since that time he focused his practice as an advisor and consultant in the design and implementation of a broad range of employee benefit programs. His philosophy of creativity and transparency, combined with the ability to deliver timely and efficient results, thus maximizing the client’s benefits and reducing their costs is the primary reason for his success.
Neil joined Achievex Financial Services in 2011 creating an opportunity to leverage his knowledge and experience across a broader client base.

Susan Ortins – Senior Administrator

Susan has in excess of 20 years experience in all aspects of new business processing, underwriting, policy service, customer service for a regional brokerage office, and insurance company liaison functions. Susan initially gained her extensive administrative experience with 11 years at a large Toronto based national brokerage operation. Susan’s exceptional life insurance administrative and organizational skills, lets her excel in the high pressure, deadline driven, transaction intensive customer focused environment of the brokerage office.

Nada Hernandez – Senior Administrator

With in excess of 10 years experience in the insurance industry, Nada deals directly with brokers and manages the firm’s life insurance, living benefits and segregated fund products.
Prior to joining Achievex she held senior positions with Cowper Financial Corporation (MGA) for almost seven years.

She has attained her Life Insurance level II license and is a long-time member of the Independent Financial Brokers association. She has earned her Bachelor of Science in Economics.

Rose Rainville – Administrator

Rose has over 10 years experience in the life insurance industry. She started her insurance career in the contracting department of Transamerica Life. Rose then joined WCS Toronto where she spent 9 years. During this time she handled new business processing, policy changes, customer service and dealt directly with brokers, providing them exceptional service.

Rose joined Achievex in 2010 as a new business administrator.

Yoschika Ramballie– Group Benefits Administrator

Yoschika has over 10 years’ experience in the administration of Group Benefits. Yoschika plays a key role in providing clients as well as brokers with superior customer service and support. Yoschika assists the Director, Group Benefits in obtaining quotations for clients and creating group benefits packages to suit clients’ individual needs.

Most importantly Yoschika acts as a liaison with insurance carriers to ensure clients’ day to day claims and group administration processes operate smoothly.
Prior to joining the Achievex Yoschika worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company as the Department Head of their ladies designer fashions division. Yoschika graduated from the University of Toronto with her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in Psychology and Sociology.

Meena Shah – Accountant/Administrator

As an Accountant/Administrator, Meena is responsible for coordinating the office as well as managing the firm’s accounting cycles. Prior to joining the company in 2007, Meena held a similar position at Simvest Solutions Inc. in Toronto.

Meena brings more than 30 years administrative and accounting experience to Achievex , having held similar positions at Brookfield LePage Johnson Control, Ohara Technologies, Royal LePage Real Estate Services and Shoppers Drug Mart. In addition to providing the company with administrative services, Meena excels in providing support for the company’s brokers.

Errol Cimring – New Business Underwriting and administration

Prior to joining Achievex in 2012, Errol practiced as a licensed pharmacist in South Africa for more than 40 years.

He now assists in the processing of new business and more importantly consults on life and group insurance cases where there are medical and drug utilisation complexities. His knowledge and advice assist in obtaining our clients the best possible decisions from underwriters at the various life insurance companies.
